Buying a Home During a Pandemic

Wednesday, September 2, 2020

Wow! You guys, I never thought I would be writing this post but we officially moved out of the city! When we found our apartment in LIC we thought we would stay for a few years. We had a beautiful two bedroom with an open kitchen, a walk in closet, outdoor space and a washer-dryer- it was perfect & we loved it. But, the pandemic changes things. As much as I loved my kitchen I started hating it after cooking and preparing 2-3 morning meals a day. The open concept kitchen/ living space that we loved prior to the pandemic became a problem because Greg worked from the same room and when I was banging around in the kitchen it just didn't work. We both started to feel a bit trapped and knew we needed to make some changes.

We decided to rent a house in Connecticut for a month and it was the best decision we made, I pulled up Zillow within minutes of arriving and from that moment we decided we were going to buy a home. We started looking in the Westchester area and monitoring homes on Zillow while we started researching the different areas in Westchester to see what would make the most sense for us.

A few days before we were leaving Connecticut we reached out to Gino Bello Homes and were immediately connected with our broker Vincent Caiola. After chatting he sent us a few homes to view and convinced us to check out the properties on our way home from Connecticut. We had a loaded car and our dog with us but we took Vinny's lead and went to see 5 properties in the Westchester area. Out of the 5 houses we saw we liked two, the first one we saw was beautiful but it was a cookie cutter and if we missed out on the opportunity we knew we would be able to find one that was similar. The house that we ended up purchasing was something special, Greg and I were unable to view it together because of the dog but we both knew the details in the home were something that could not be replicated. I knew immediately that I wanted to put a bid on the house but Greg was a little hesitant. We saw one property after we stood in the backyard chatting with Vinny about the market and knew it would move quickly. He talked Greg through a few things but was not pushy and gave us a lot to think about. After spending one more night in LIC and staying up until 4am with constant fireworks we were ready, we called Vinny and put in an offer.

We consider ourselves lucky to have found such a great broker that walked us through the whole process and literally held our hands the whole time. As first time home buyers we were unfamiliar with the process  and Vinny was great every step of the way. Its as definitely not an easy time because of the pandemic but Vinny made the process as smooth as it can be during a difficult time and eased our nerves from the moment we started looking at homes to the moment we closed on ours. If you are looking in the Westchester area reach out to him, he knew just what we were looking for and we can't be any happier.

P.S. keep checking back, I will be sharing with you a first time home buying guide within the next few weeks!

When buying a house, it's important to negotiate the purchase price to ensure you're getting a fair deal. Additionally, you can negotiate other terms such as the inclusion of certain appliances or furniture, closing costs, repairs or credits for any identified issues during the inspection, and even the timeline for the transaction to align with your needs and preferences.Lumina Grand EC

Few buyers have the funds necessary to cover the whole cost of the home. Most home buyers make compromises on the house because they do not have enough money to buy the house they want. Thank you for making this such an awesome post!Industrial Property

Real estate is often viewed as a hedge against inflation. Unlike many other assets that can erode in value when inflation rises, real estate has historically maintained or even increased its value during inflationary periods. moodulmaja võtmed kätte hind
