Anniversary Weekend/ Salt Point New York: Part 1

Monday, August 26, 2019

Wow! I can not believe how fast a year goes by, it seems like just yesterday I was finalizing all of the details for my wedding and finally arriving at the room in awe that it all came together in the most perfect way.
People always tell you it is the best day of your life and they are right it is! It is so special to celebrate with family and friends that are all there with one goal in mind, to toast to the happy couple and between that and the dancing we were both all smiles all night!
Now, let's get to the anniversary! I told you guys on my IG @fashinny that Greg had a surprise that knocked me off my feet and I couldn't wait to share it with you all, I just wanted to give it a few days and let the whole weekend sink in, letting the moments be mine before sharing.

SO let's get started with the weekend. We booked a farm house on VRBO in Salt Point NY about 2 hours from the city. We left Friday morning and drove up stopping at Barton Orchards (also seen here) which is an absolutely incredible farm with animals, a cidery, ice cream (of course) a dog run (yes we took Oakley with us) and plenty more. I am dying to go back for apple and pumpkin picking among other festivals that they have in the fall.

What else did we do?

Walkway over the Hudson (also seen hereThis linear park spans the Hudson River between the Town of Lloyd in Ulster County and the City of Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County.

Millbrook Vineyard and Winery (also seen hereEstablished in 1982 on a former dairy farm in New York’s Hudson River Valley, Millbrook Vineyards & Winery produces a range of high-quality wines that includes Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Tocai Friulano. Guests are welcome for daily tastings in the restored Dutch barn, and guided tours are offered on weekends.

And now for the surprise!

As you all know Greg proposed to me in Scotland, you can read my just said yes story right here, ever since then Scotland has held a very special part of our hearts. While we were upstate Greg hired a musician to come and play the bagpipes for our very own concert.

Here is how the surprise went down:
We were down in the basement after going on a long walk in the morning and I heard some music- I looked at Greg and I said " I think someone is playing Irish music (I was a little off!)" and he just looked at me and then I looked back at him and said "you?" he answered "yup" and I ran up the steps to see what was going on. It was the most incredible moment and Greg pulled off the surprise seamlessly. We sat outside listening to the beautiful music while we sipped on a glass of Scotch enjoying every moment!

But wait! There are a few gifts, stay tuned for Part 2 & a video of the weekend!
