Wow! What a whirlwind, I am throwing it back to this past summer, my travels through Scotland and my "Just Said Yes" moment that was the most perfect moment of my life. But, before we get to that I just wanted to let you know that if you are thinking of planning a trip to Scotland, do it! Edinburgh is just charming and has all the makings of a great city (great food, great entertainment, great scenery & tours) and beyond the city there is so much to do and see. Now on to the good stuff...
Our first day in Scotland was an absolutely perfect day to start our trip. We landed in Scotland at about 8am and were able to get an early check in at our hotel that was located about 10 minutes from the center of the city. The skies were blue and the sun was out so the concierge basically told us to drop our bags and run. We grabbed a quick breakfast at the hotel and were off to explore.
Our first stop was Arthur's Seat, I did a lot of research (yup on instagram) and Arthur's Seat looked the like the hike to do. On a side note it isn't as easy as it looks and by days end we had walked 9.2 miles and climbed 122 flights of stairs but it was all worth it. When we got to the top of the mountain I took out my camera as I normally do and snapped a few shots of the spectacular views from the top.
As I put my camera away I looked up and my boyfriend was on one knee proposing to me! Of course I said yes at the most romantic location in Edinburgh overlooking the entire city and we were even lucky enough that a fellow hiker caught the moment and was so kind to send us some shots.
It was the perfect way to kick off our Scottish adventures and Edinburgh now has a very special part of my heart.
The afternoon was filled with more exploring, with our first moments of being an engaged couple celebrated a Scottish pub on the Royal Mile followed by a tour at the Scotch Whisky Experience. As I'm sure you all know Scotland is famous for it's distilleries and the Scotch Whisky Experience is a great place to start learning some of the history. We did the hour tour which was wonderful and I had my first taste of Scotch (not too bad). You can bet after day one we were both exhausted but we were so excited for what was next to come on our adventures through Scotland.
