Wedding Day Details: Part 2

Monday, February 8, 2021

Wow! I can not believe that our wedding was two and a half years ago- time really flies but I remember every moment like it was yesterday. Recently I framed some wedding photos for Valentine's Day seen here and I realized I never posted all of the details of our summer wedding. Weddings are a whirlwind, so much planning and it goes by in minute but the memories definitely last forever and having pictures to help you hold onto those memories is priceless.

We got married on 8.19.2018 at Anthony's Pier 9 in the Hudson Valley. Initially we looked at some spaces in New York City but a lot of the spaces while gorgeous seemed to small and we wanted a space that had the capacity to use the indoor and outdoor spaces for our ceremony and reception. In October 2017 we had our good friends wedding in the Hudson Valley and decided to make an appointment to see Anthony's on our way home the next day. We were so enamored by the space we held a date at the appointment and called back later that week upon confirming the date with our families. We invited 200 people to our wedding and did not want to feel confined, Anthony's Pier 9 has the capacity for 1500 making it feel spacious and even more magical to have a huge space all to ourselves.

We chose to do our ceremony outside in this beautiful setting that felt like a secret garden, we fell in love with all the lush greenery reminding us of our engagement spot in Scotland and knew it was the perfect spot for us to get married.

Now for the flowers!

After first meeting with a florist who gave me a quote that doubled my budget I decided to look for a florist outside of the city. My friend who got married a couple months after us found Amaryllis Event Decor in NJ and I could not have been happier with the decor.

My idea was all white with some greenery to match the decor of the space and I went to meet with Erik Olsson. He was able to tell me which florals to use and what would look best based on photos I showed him from my Pinterest inspo board and his designs were absolutely incredible. And although I wanted to take all the flowers with me at the end of the night I ended up connecting with a hospice in the area and donating them. It put a smile on my face the next morning knowing that people who needed a smile most were able to wake up to these beautiful flowers next to their beds.

Our catering was all handled in house which was a godsend, not having to outsource catering, drinks or even the tables and chairs took a huge weight off of our shoulders and it all came together beautifully. There is nothing wrong with finding a space and doing all of that yourself but it is a lot more work and I was happy to have a little less stress during the planning process.

And as for our band, they knocked it out of the park! We went with More Than Music and chose Josh Boorum (check out his instagram here) and a 3 person band mixed with a DJ. Josh played Guitar with vocals for our procession and cocktail hour and then we mixed live music with a DJ for the reception.
