Valentine's Day: How to Celebrate at Home

Friday, February 5, 2021

Wow! I can not believe it's almost Valentine's Day... I never thought we would still be here almost a year after our initial stay at home order but here we are, still home for the most part. NYC is opening dining at 25% capacity in time for Valentine's Day and there is still outdoor dining if you want to brave the cold but for the rest of us we have to think of ways to celebrate Valentine's Day at home.

1. Cook together! Choose one of your favorite recipes and get in the kitchen with a glass of wine. Light some candles and set Alexa to play romantic music or make your own playlist on Spotify and let it play through the night.

2. Prepare a special dessert. Yes, you can always buy a dessert but there is something to be said for home-baked goods. Here are some ideas:

3. Have a fireplace? Light it up and make s'mores together on a cozy blanket!
Don't have one? That is ok! Make it on the stove top and have your own indoor picnic. Tip: Search your TV for fireplace, you can set them ambiance for some indoor magic.

4. Watch a romantic film:
Gone with the Wind
The Notebook
When Harry Met Sally
Sleepless in Seattle
You've Got Mail

5. You can't get to the vineyards but you can do an at home wine tasting.
Buy two or three bottles and download the tasting notes. You an even pair the wines with your dinner or dessert to make the night extra special.
