I love baked goods and there is nothing better than homemade apple crisp, especially hot out of the oven! A few weeks back I headed upstate NY to go apple picking and brought home about a pound of apples. After eating a few I decided to bake the rest, recipe below:
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, diced into small chunks
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (optional, I sprinkle a bit on top before baking)
- 3-4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced thin or chunked
For the crumb topping:
For the Apple filling:
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a medium size bowl combine the crumb topping ingredients until in crumbs. Line the bottom of a pan or muffin tins with a layer of crumbs.
- For the Apple Filling: Peel and core apples then cut them into slices or smaller pieces.
- Layer apples on top of crumb layer.
- Add more crumbs on top of the apples then sprinkle with cinnamon.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and top is set. Remove from oven and allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
- Serve with ice cream of choice, most people opt for Vanilla but I am a chocolate girl!
