On Wednesday, October 8th, Cat Footwear held a preview presentation for their Spring/Summer 2015 collection at their new Pop-Up location in Midtown.
The
preview was presented in four segments: white heat, black & white,
colorful freestyle, and denim on denim, showing 32 looks from the
forthcoming line. The SS15 collection also introduces a new
collaboration with London-based graphic print designer, Camille Walala. A
range of styles for both men and women are infused with Walala's
infamous prints, which focus on bold, primary colors. Key styles for
men offer subtle hints of the Walala patterns on the tongue and footbed,
while the women's styles are more outwardly obvious by featuring the
graphic textiles all over the upper of the shoes. Camille Walala has
collaborated with consumer brands in the past ranging from Nintento to
interior takeovers of trendy restaurants in the heart of London, but
this is her first foray into footwear.
As for the venue, this is Cat's first-ever Pop-Up in the U.S. (even though the brand has over 100 monogrammed storefronts worldwide). Cat
will be taking over the corner of 47th & Lex for the entire month
of October, to host a slew of special events and consumer shopping.
The Pop-Up will be open to consumers this Saturday, October 11th,
11am-7pm, for a day of shopping in honor of the UN-declared day
"International Day of the Girl," where 10% of all proceeds will go to
the Ripple Project at E.P.I.C. (epicthemovement.org) to provide clean drinking-water in areas of need. The Pop-Up will also be open to consumers October 21st - 28th, 11am - 7pm
daily, and will feature 3 limited edition styles from the UK that have
never been available to the U.S. consumer. The pop-up will be the first
and only place to get these styles, while supplies last.
