Orangetheory comes to LIC

If you are anything like me you are starting to think of your New Years Resolution, now of course every year we want to get more fit and there is nothing wrong with that but this year, let's follow through! I am excited to announce that Orangetheory Fitness is coming soon to LIC and there is nothing more that I enjoy than that good burn you feel after taking a class! I would consider myself pretty fit, in the past I have dabbled in different classes from Spin to Barre, I am an avid walker raking in at least 10,000 steps a day & in between all of that I seek other ways to get exercise. I am not going to lie when I first heard about Orangetheory I was a bit scared, my coworker always told me that we were going to go together and I absolutely thought I would pass out in the back of the class! Well, I couldn't have been more wrong! I tackled my fears and went to my first class and not only did I understand what all the rave was about I found myself wanting to go back.


The class was split into three sections, I started on the row machine and spent about a half hour completing a routine on the machine. Within the routine came challenges to force you to push yourself to your best and I can tell you I am that gal who rises to the challenge. When left to my own devices at the gym I sometimes half ass it but when I am pushed with goals to achieve I aim to get to my goals and even surpass them in some cases. After a challenging but rewarding session on the row machine I moved onto the second half of the class. This was comprised of sprints on the treadmill followed by a set of weights and abs and then back to the treadmill. I am not a runner but I was pleasantly surprised that I did not have to run, a fast paced walk was good enough and I was even able to push myself on that. I made it back and forth between the two routines 4 times and felt incredible after my first Orangetheory class.

Orangetheory Fitness is a one hour, full body workout. It is heart-rate based  interval training which is scientifically proven to help you burn calories for up to 36 hours after the workout. Backed by science and tracked by technology, we utilize our heart rate monitor system which enables members to monitor their progress throughout the workout on our studio screens. There are certified fitness coaches in the room to guide you through the entire workout and ensure that members are not over training or under training. It is affordable personal training in a group setting that will soon have you and the neighborhood parents interacting and getting healthier than ever in a fun environment.






The new LIC studio will have lockers, showers, and a beauty bar to help members transition seamlessly from workout to life. Classes will be as early as 5/530am and as late as 7/8pm in the evening, and they will be open on the weekends as well. Hope to see any of you fellow LIC followers at a class sometime in the future!
