1 Year Anniversary: Part II

Everyone wants to blow their first wedding anniversary out of the water and make memories to last a lifetime. Traditional gifting for the first anniversary is paper and I knew I wanted to incorporate this into my gift to Greg but I wasn’t sure what to do. Of course I scoured Pinterest and read every gift guide possible. There were so many great ideas but I didn’t particularly connect to any of them. After doing some extensive research & talking to friends I suddenly remembered that Greg had mentioned that he wanted to see Sleep No More and I knew that was going to be part of our celebration. Greg was an English major in college and loves Shakespeare so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to treat ourselves to a show and to enjoy a night out. I purchased Maximilian's list and we were able to enjoy cocktails at the speakeasy bar before heading into the show (highly recommended).

This wasn’t the only gift though! As I mentioned in my last post where I shared where we went for our anniversary, Greg hired a bagpiper to play for us at our VRBO home (read more about it here). Greg proposed in Scotland and this was an amazing surprise- I don’t know how he kept it from me! We were down in the basement watching tv and trying to plan out our day. I heard some music starting to play and asked him if he heard it. He smiled and I knew right away he had planned this magical surprise for us for our special weekend. We ran upstairs and out the front door, Greg set up chairs and then went back inside to get us a drink so we can toast to a year of marriage.

Oh and there’s one more thing! When choosing an engagement ring I decided I wanted cushion cut with stones around the band. I went back and forth whether I wanted a halo or not but decided against it because I wanted the stone to be the main focus. I absolutely love my ring and wouldn’t change a thing but for my anniversary I wanted to add something special to commemorate our one year.

I teamed up with Diamond Nexus and chose The Angelix - a stacking band that frames my engagement ring perfectly. What's even greater is the fact that Diamond Nexus is an eco-friendly company that uses lab created diamond alternatives instead of mined diamonds. These rings are custom created and there are so many gorgeous options to choose from at a more affordable price point than a mined diamond. Tune in tomorrow to hear more about how I chose the style I wanted for my wedding ring and to see some of my favorite picks from Diamond Nexus.

**Ring from Diamond Nexus was gifted however all the opinions are my own**
