Stairway To Heaven

One of my favorite ways to get in a bit of exercise is to get outside and go for a long walk or a hike especially when I am able to get out of the city. Last weekend I googled best hikes in Vernon, NJ and came up with Stairway To Heaven Trail in Wawayanda park. The beginning of the hike leads you through the Appalachian Boardwalk through crosses the wetlands along the Appalachian Trail between Pochuck and Wawayanda mountains.

The boardwalk was reminiscent of the Highline in NYC but instead of looking down at the street traffic the trail was filled with different plants and chirping birds along the route. Upon starting the trail I was enamored by the beauty of the area and the sounds of nature, it had such a calming effect and I was excited to explore.

Unfortunately I did not make it all the way up through the hike (I turned around after 3 miles to make a 6 mile loop) but look forward to returning and climbing to the top.
