Old Cinema

Gene Tierney in the film "Laura"

Last night I joined some friends at the Friar's Club in NYC for a night of old cinema featuring the movie "Laura" by Otto Preminger, Staring Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews. I am fascinated with old films from a fashion perspective and the clothing in this movie was to die for.

The movie was made in 1944 and in those times, Fashion Houses were commissioned by movie conglomerates of the time. In 1941 Gene Tierney married Oleg Cassini, and through her connections he signed onto Paramount to design for Fox.
         As they say...they don't do it like they used to!
