Scotland Travel Diaries: Just Said Yes

Tuesday, December 12, 2017

Wow! What a whirlwind, I am throwing it back to this past summer, my travels through Scotland  and my "Just Said Yes" moment that was the most perfect moment of my life.  But, before we get to that I just wanted to let you know that if you are thinking of planning a trip to Scotland, do it! Edinburgh is just charming and has all the makings of a great city (great food, great entertainment, great scenery & tours) and beyond the city there is so much to do and see.  Now on to the good stuff...

Our first day in Scotland was an absolutely perfect day to start our trip. We landed in Scotland at about 8am and were able to get an early check in at our hotel that was located about 10 minutes from the center of the city. The skies were blue and the sun was out so the concierge basically told us to drop our bags and run. We grabbed a quick breakfast at the hotel and were off to explore.
Our first stop was Arthur's Seat, I did a lot of research (yup on instagram) and Arthur's Seat looked the like the hike to do. On a side note it isn't as easy as it looks and by days end we had walked 9.2 miles and climbed 122 flights of stairs but it was all worth it. When we got to the top of the mountain I took out my camera as I normally do and snapped a few shots of the spectacular views from the top.

As I put my camera away I looked up and my boyfriend was on one knee proposing to me! Of course I said yes at the most romantic location in Edinburgh overlooking the entire city and we were even lucky enough that a fellow hiker caught the moment and was so kind to send us some shots.
It was the perfect way to kick off our Scottish adventures and Edinburgh now has a very special part of my heart.
The afternoon was filled with more exploring, with our first moments of being an engaged couple celebrated a Scottish pub on the Royal Mile followed by a tour at the Scotch Whisky Experience. As I'm sure you all know Scotland is famous for it's distilleries and the Scotch Whisky Experience is a great place to start learning some of the history. We did the hour tour which was wonderful and I had my first taste of Scotch (not too bad). You can bet after day one we were both exhausted but we were so excited for what was next to come on our adventures through Scotland.

First Snow of the Season

Sunday, December 10, 2017

I took these ballard buffalo duck boots by Chooka out just in time for snow this weekend in NYC. We have had a fairly mild season so far so when the snow started coming down there were no complaints from me- I was ready! These boots make it easy to look cute even in inclement weather, and if you are a New Yorker you know what we go through. As the snow falls the city is covered in a beautiful blanket but then, the slush sets in making it impossible to get around. These boots are just what the fashionista ordered to get through those slushy and dirty days while still looking her best!

Speaking of dressing your best one of my winter tricks is pairing a long cardigan over a blouse for an extra layer of warmth. I have rounded up a few cute ones that are all under $100 that will get you (and me) through the cold season.

If you are still looking for a gift- I am a huge fan of monogram gifts and The Daily Edited has the cutest collection of leather goods that you can monogram. I have my initials "SJ" on this bucket tote and absolutely love it- it comes with two different size handles and in great colors as well. Check out some other favorites or head to the site to see what else they have.

And of course I love to add a fun accessory to complete my look especially during the holiday season. These preena earrings by Deepa by Deepa Gurnani are the perfect addition to any look, trust me people will stop you on the street to ask you where you got them from!

What I Wore: Ballard Buffalo duck boots choke c/o, pants: The Madison I Love Tyler Madison c/o,  Khaki Bucket Bag c/o The Daily Edited, Earrings Deepa Gurnani c/o

Ruffled Cold Shoulder

Thursday, December 7, 2017

This ruffle cold shoulder sheath dress has been on my eye for quite some time so you can imagine my excitement when Target opened on 34th street in Manhattan. It's a bit smaller than most Target's you can imagine however it A. has a New York section which is pretty cool and B. has women's clothing & a full size beauty section.
I love strolling around town during this time of year since New York gets completely decked out with all of the lights and windows for the Holiday Season. Last week I walked down 5th ave to check out all of the fabulous windows and if you have not done so yet I highly suggest it (Bergdorf'd were phenomenal).

I paired this dress with the perfect holiday accessories. I love how these brown velvet pumps (which are now on sale!) paired with this dress and I decided to add these gorgeous hammered hoops and my new favorite Chloe sunglasses that I have been dying for.

What I Wore:

The Perfect Faux Fur

Tuesday, December 5, 2017

Would you believe it if I told you I have been searching for the perfect faux fur coat for over a year and I finally found one that caught my eye. Well, it's a true story and this right here is the coat-
a. it's incredibly soft & b. it's even more incredibly budget friendly that you need grab it right now.
I started looking for one since it gets pretty cold in New York in the winter but I hate looking like a mess in a big puffer coat. Don't get me wrong- I absolutely live in my puffer coat during the day but at night or the weekends when I want to head to dinner or out to events I like to clean it up a bit.

These silver boots by Rebecca Minkoff are by far one of my favorite purchases this season and what's even greater is that they come in two heel sizes. I myself grabbed the Serena Boot that is now on sale but if you like a bit of a smaller heel you can grab the Izette Boot that are just as cute. And since you know I always love a great deal- this gorgeous tiered ruffle sleeve dress is by Who What Wear and is only $35. I absolutely love the ruffled sleeves on this dress and it's the perfect dress to wear for the holidays or out to dinner and drinks with friends and family.

I am all about adding pops of color to my looks and this bag bag annabelle lady bag hit the mark. It is the perfect size to carry just the items you need- your phone, your lipstick, a small wallet and any other small items that strike your fancy. This bag reminds me of the 50's when bags were really structured and completely lady like and because it gives off that vibe I added a triple row pearl bracelet (hint: makes a great gift) to finish off the look.
