A Royal Fete At the Plaza Hotel

Tuesday, May 22, 2018

For the past few weeks I have been gushing to everyone and anyone I know about how excited I was about the Royal Wedding. If you know anything about me, I have a few things in common with the Royal Couple that made even more exciting for me to watch and to be a part of.
For starters Meghan and I share a birthday month but even more than that I got engaged in August in Scotland (where the Royals Summer) a few days ahead of Harry and Meghan and will be getting married this August only 3 months after.
As any bride can tell you, we pay attention to details so you can bet I have been watching every move from the engagement shoot all the way through the wedding predictions & have been completely enamored with all the details.  So, you can imagine how excited I was when I was invited to celebrate they Royal Wedding at the Plaza Hotel with WeddingWire  (my planning tool since day 1) and Love Stories TV.

My evening started off with the "Royal Glam", think hair, makeup, tiaras and jewels- just a few of this gals favorite things.  I entered the Plaza's Royal Suite and was immediately greeted with a glass of Krug's Champagne as I set off to explore. I decided to go for hair first followed by makeup so I would be ready for the rest of the evening. Eric Sebbag from Warren Tricomi at the Plaza took the reigns on my hair and added some loose curls then twisted one side to the back letting the rest of my hair fall to one side and totally nailed the royal look. Following hair I got a small makeup touch up with some extra highlighter and bronze eyeshadow to bring out my eyes.
Before heading off to pick out my tiara for my photos I sidetracked to the Birchbox table to make my own box mixed with a few of Meghan's favorite products. I filled my box with Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, Derma-E Hydrating mist (use this with a Jade roller), Oribe Cote d'Azur, Amika un.done volume & matte Texture Spray & Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner (which also happens to be one of my favorites). Now that I was all stocked up on my "Meghan approved" beauty products and my hair and makeup were Royally approved it was time to choose a tiara for my portrait.

With so many gorgeous choices from Kleinfelds it was hard to choose, I can just imagine how long it took Meghan to pick the perfect one for her ceremony. I finally narrowed it down to my favorite one after trying on many and took my "Royal photo" in the Royal Suite.

And of course, what is a Royal Fete without a few Corgis & some Gin! Even here in America we know what the Queen likes! The Royal Suite was filled with a few Corgis to set the mood, these are Queen's preferred breed of dog & within her reign she has owned more than 30 Corgis. Something that I learned on my trip to Scotland is that the Queen is a fan of Gin- she actually likes it straight before lunch (a little fun fact).

The Rehearsal Dinner was held in the Edwardian Room at the Plaza Hotel, I was seated at the Northern Lights table, some of the other tables included the Frogmore House (where Meghan and Harry had their Dinner party) and Windsor Castle.
The absolutely stunning floral & event design were produced by Fete NY - Jung Lee designed the centerpieces including White Roses for Princess Diana and Peonies for Meghan Markle & even gave a toast to the royal couple during the evening. The three course menu included items typical to British tradition and I must say it was absolutely delicious. As the evening came to an end we were all reminded of what was to come in only a short few hours and the Rehearsal Dinner was the perfect event to honor the Royal Couple right before their wedding.

Spring Combo: Maxi Dresses & Sneakers

Monday, May 14, 2018

I think I found my Spring through Summer uniform and it's literally the easiest thing to throw on and head out the door. This season I am all about the maxi dress and chic kicks and honestly I have never been so excited about a combo.
With the New York heat in the Summer jeans are not usually an option therefore I usually resort to flowy dresses that are breathable and don't weigh you down in the heat.

As for the sneakers- I am huge fan of comfort especially when I walk at least 5 miles a day. I have heard a lot of women say "I can never pair sneakers with a dress" but honestly it's all about the right sneaker with the right dress and once you find your match you will be hooked.
(If you're looking for more guidance on how to wear this trend check out a previous post see here)

Monday, May 7, 2018

I rounded up some of my favorite gifts for my Mother's Day Gift Guide part 1 last week and I am rounding up a few more great items for part 2 for all you last minute shoppers. With a week away you still have some time to get on this last minute deals and I have a few items at different price points so that you are guaranteed to find something.

Chloe Sunglasses: If you are looking to splurge and shower mom with designer goods, I highly recommend these sunglasses. I have had mine for about a year and receive compliments every time I wear them.
Shop my favorites:

I wish you could scratch and sniff this page because Sol De Janeiro is just that good, even my 5 year old niece stole some of my stash and uses it every night before she goes to sleep.

From their face oils (I am obsessed and have been using them with a Jade roller) to their cleansers Derma-E is a great brand. Not only are they natural they are budget friendly making this one of my favorite brands to recommend (also seen here).

Anything with SPF in it tops my lisp especially when it comes to face products. I use these all year round and make sure that in the warmer months I don't burn my face (no wrinkles here).
Since Mother's Day is in May these are great products to gift your mom so she too can get in the daily SPF routine and protect her skin.

I can go on for days about this line but all I am going to say is- TRY IT, GIFT IT, bronze yourself and look great without the negative effects (also seen here).

Raise your hand if you do not love K-Beauty, ok, I know I can't see you if you are but if you do have that hand raised you have to check out this trend. As I said before I have been using a Jade Roller (and actually bought one for my mom shh!) and loving the effects of this K-Beauty tool. Add to it great products like these from Innisfree and you are set! Insider has everything from face masks to makeup so go ahead and make your mom a K-Beauty gift bag for Mother's Day this year.

Copper and Crane is a luxury skin care line with spa like qualities. Gift these to your mom so she can have an at home spa day. PSA this Spa Bar smells amazing, I have one in my bathroom and you can smell it all the way down the hall- it's that good!

There is one last item on my list and it is by Lumavera- this company cultivates beauty from the ground up and is filled with ingredients like pomegranate, tomato, spinach, rose oil and more. This Oxygenating Mask repairs skin cells for a brighter complexion for an energized youthful look which is just what every woman wants.

Hope you all found exactly what you are looking for and Happy Mother's Day to all those wonderful Mamas out there!!

Mother's Day Gift Guide: Part 1

Monday, April 30, 2018

Every year moments pop up on us and a most of times we are not ready. But, I try to prepare for those moments especially when it comes to gifting. When gifting I love to give items that are tried and tested especially the ones that are loved by me. I find that this way you can not only gift the item but speak about it when handing over the goods.
This year I am rounding up some of my favorite products, think makeup, facial products, creams etc.- all items that make the perfect gift for Mother's Day (every product is shoppable making this a one stop shopping guide to simplify your gifting).

First up are items from Fresh one of my favorite beauty stores in NYC. A few years ago my mom and I were wandering around Union Square and popped into the shop to look around (if you visit try to find out photo in the book) &  I could not get her out of the shop! I went back a few days later and created a customized gift box with some of the items she was eyeing. Obviously items from this shop land on my gift guides every season and this year I am loving all of the products with Rose. If you have time pop into the shop for some inspo but if not just grab a few items here and hand them over with love!

I am a huge fan of aromatherapy- there is something about the scents that is so relaxing I love to come home and plug in my diffuser and choose my scent for the day.
I also mix up going to the gym and doing Yoga at home, this is a great way to filter your room with a scent while providing those relaxing vibes.

Perfect for the mom who loves Yoga or needs to chill out after a long day!

Next up are more products from my brands that I use on a regular basis, Kopari & EOS. If you never heard of Kopari you need to check it out immediately- all of their items are coconut based and completely refreshing. I love their coconut toner- I spray it on my face when I get home from work for a little refresher and the smell is beyond amazing!
If you have not heard of EOS you might be living under a rock- popularized by Miley Cyrus (yes she featured that ball of lip balm in one of her videos and it went viral) their line of Lip Balms are one of the most moisturizing brands on the market not to mention they are also packed with antioxidant-rich vitamins, shea butter & jojoba oil.
Lately I have been obsessed with their new line called Aqua the perfect line to quench thirsty skin. These gifts won't break the bank so stock up on a few for yourself and a few for mom- she will be thrilled!

Let's Talk Makeup!
No mother has ever said no to receiving makeup as a gift- at least I know mine would never turn it down! There are so many great lines on the market and I rounded up a few of my favorites from my own collection that I have been using on the daily!

Arbonne This starlight palette is great for bronzing & highlighting. Although this palette was Holiday, Arbonne has great options for gifting your mom (not to mention the creams) and the price points are great as well.

Let's chat Pixi by Petra- available at TARGET and who does not love target. But what is even more exciting is that there is a palette for EVERYTHING! From lip kits to eye palettes, face contouring kits and more you will definitely be able to find what you are looking for!

Urban Decay makes my FAVORITE eye palettes and this one is the perfect size for the mom on the go. I pop this in my purse in the morning and am able to spruce up my look after work when I am headed to dinner or drinks. The shades are gorgeous and this palette is under $30!

A few weeks back I went to a dinner hosted by the owner of POP beauty and had the honor to preview the latest collection. If your mom is bold and loves colors this line is for her.
Prismatic POP Illuminating Powder (available in 7 shades)
Popper Topper (available in 6 shades)

With a shade for everyone these Urban Decay Hi-Fi shine gloss is on my list and honestly I have been raving about them. These glosses add perfect amount of shine for your pout and the colors are subtle yet allow you to stand out in a crowd.

It's no secret that Highlighting is in. Add a dab of this to the cheeks and head out for the night. Your mom will love the shine it brings to her face it's the perfect makeup pick-me-up!

I am obsessed with Winky Lux and their coffee line is perfect for the mom who loves both coffee and makeup. When I first opened my eyeshadow palette I was amazed at how great it smelled but even more amazed at the pigments. And for the mom who loves lipstick- these come in the cutest packaging, she will absolutely love it!

**Disclaimer- all products were gifted however all opinions and the choice to share these items are my own**

Check back later this week for my Gift Guide Part 2!
