Fall Stripes

Thursday, August 17, 2017

As the temperature tapers off a bit in NYC I have been transitioning some items in my closet (see previous post for how I am transitioning my dresses to fall). I am a huge blouse, jeans and kicks kinda gal and this is the perfect season for this look (right before it gets too cool and you need a jacket). I tend to look for blouses with details that make the look and this stripe blouse is the perfect blouse to transition to fall.
I love the tie front tassels and the cute details on the shoulders- the stripes still remind me of summer dresses but it a great way to take the trend right into fall.

Transitional Dresses

Wednesday, August 16, 2017

I told you I love transitioning summer dresses to fall and there is no better way to do it than with midi and maxi dresses. The easiest way to transition is with a leather jacket or a cute cardigan or even a throwing a sweater over the dress to make it look like a skirt. I rounded up a few cute items all under $50 that are great to wear for the rest of the summer and straight through fall. Shop my picks below:

Fall Forward with Superdry

Tuesday, August 15, 2017

You all know I love a good sale so when I received an email from the team behind Sample Sale 260 to pop in to the Superdry sample sale and shoot some looks you can imagine how I excited I was. As a New Yorker I have been known to scour the racks at the sample sale and have picked up a thing or two along the way. One of my favorite purchases was a Rebecca Minkoff handbag for $10 yes, you heard me, $10 (seen here). So now that you know you can find great deals at 260 Sample Sale let's talk about fall, although I don't want to admit it it's right around the corner and I have been thinking of pieces that can help make the transition a bit easier.

Here are a few tips:

1. Keep out those maxi dresses- maxi dresses make great transitional pieces are can be easily layered under a leather or suede jacket (just like this one) or under a cardigan or even a sweater to make it look like a maxi skirt.
2. Purchase items that will last you through the fall and items you can wear again in spring. This fringe suede jacket is the perfect item that will take you through both seasons.
3. Booties- these are my go-to staple! Honestly booties can take you through any season- yes even summer! And, a girl can never have enough shoes so get on the trend and start stocking up for fall!

Striped Summer

Thursday, August 10, 2017

I love downtown Manhattan but I have to admit I don't get there quite often enough. I usually head down a few times a year when I am headed to Fourteen Jay to get my hair done and every time I am down there I wish I visited more frequently. With all the new places in Tribeca it really is picture perfect and there are endless places to shop and brunch.
I grabbed this dress off of Luv.It hands down one of my favorite shopping apps that rounds up the best independent designers from around the world. I love finding new brands that I would not normally come across and I fell in love with this striped off the shoulder frill dress by Thistle & Finn an online boutique with great prices.

This season the market has been flooded with off the shoulder striped dresses and it's no wonder why, this trend looks great on everyone. I also love the versatility of this dress, easy to wear with a pair of flats for a low-key casual look or a pair of heeled sandals for dinner or drinks out.

I scooped this Danielle Nicole cross body bag up at the Bloomingdale's Outlet in Jersey and have been using it for everything from work to play. It is the perfect size and I love the olive color, as a girl who tends to buy a lot of accessories in black I thought this was a nice break for summer.

I paired this look with my favorite pair of espadrille flats by Matt Bernson that were handmade by a cobbler in Spain. I love the neutral cognac color and how summer friendly these are (they are also on sale).

Summer Beauty Favorites

EOS Shave Cream-
One of the most important things during the summer months is to get a clean shave and when I mean clean I mean silky smooth, EOS shaving cream is my trick to keeping it neat.
While I am usually partial to vanilla or lavender scents I must admit I have tried all of the EOS shave cream scents and love each one. These creams are rich & non-foaming packed with natural conditioning old, shea butter and antioxidant vitamins E and C to provide 24 hours of ultra soothing moisture. What's even better is that the formula is so rich you can shave wet or dry which definitely helps when you miss a spot!

Derma-E
I have been using oils on my face for the longest time and have tried everything from almond oil to avocado oil. Since starting to use Derma-E products I have not returned to my previous regimen. I
absolutely love the nourishing rose cleansing oil and the radiant glow face oil. My skin feels smooth and looks brighter which is an added plus for the summer months.
I have heard so many great things about the properties in micellar water but never tried it until I was introduced to it by Derma-E. This Micellar Cleansing Water gently removes dirt and makeup from your skin by using a unique blend of micellar technology, probiotics & rooibos.
I have been using this every night before going to sleep and have noticed a difference in my skin- it looks much brighter and healthier which allows my skin to breath and not be covered up by as much makeup during the summer months.

Fresh Sugar-
I can not rave enough about this brand! First of all the line of sugar lip treatments have been my go-to product for years possibly even since they were released. I love the ones with a bit of color because they are great to wear all day and they provide 6 hours of moisture.
What else should you try? Definitely the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish which helps you buff away dry flakes (I am guilty of picking so this is a must for me!) and of course Sugar Sport since protecting my lips in the summer is  a must. If you are looking for bit more color the Sugar Cream Lip Treatment is a must try and they are available in 6 different colors.

Pixi by Petra-
If you are a makeup junkie like me chances are you already know this brand, Pixi by Petra has everything under the sun from lip glosses to eye palettes, glow tonics and more. And the prices are so great it makes you fall even more in love with the brand.
What should you try? The Pixi Peel & Polish is a great exfoliating enzyme peel which resurfaces and  loosens dead skin- this is great after a weekend at the beach when you need a little pick-me-up and get this...it's only $24! The Shea Butter Lip Balms are also great and at $8 a pop you can own all 5 colors!

A little secret about Dove Soap- my grandmother was a die hard fan, she used Pink Beauty Bar every day of her life to wash her face and had the most beautiful skin.
These shower foams do not disappoint and I have been using the cucumber in the shower all summer long. The scent is fresh and clean and who does not love a good foamy shower!
