Protect Yourself: SPF & Self Tanning Tips

Tuesday, April 24, 2018

It's that time of the year where every girl in New York starts shedding those layers and realizes how pale the winter months made her legs. Yes, you are not alone! We all feel this no matter what shade.
While I love feeling bronzed and glowy I do know the importance of protecting my skin from the sun. I never leave the house without protecting my face (I always make sure my moisturizers as well as my foundation has SPF in it) and when the Summer really kicks in I always make sure I throw a bottle of sunscreen in my bag.
So what are my favorite products to protect my skin? Check out my roundup below:

Derma-E Natural Mineral Stick (SPF30)

Perricone No Foundation Foundation (SPF30)

Perricone No Concealer Concealer (SPF35)

Perricone Face Finishing Moisturizer (SPF30)

Perricone No Bronzer Bronzer (SPF 30)

Perricone No Blush Blush (SPF30)

For your lips (so many women forget to protect their lips which is one of the most sensitive areas)
EOS is my lip go-to and they never fail with their line, here are my two favorite Spring and Summer flavors that are SPF friendly:

Now that we have that covered, if you need that glow without the sun don't hit the beds try self tanning at home! Don't be scared if you never tried, St. Tropez is one of my favorite brands (it has been since Emily Maynard revealed her secret from her bachelorette days) and I have been dousing myself with the pre shower foam that you leave on your body for 1 minute (this is legit no fail).

And if you still want a little glow on top of that at home tan, my go-to is Coconut Body Glow by Kopari it smells great and gives you that perfect shine!

How to wear Sneakers & Dresses

Wednesday, April 18, 2018

I am all about florals this season especially when they are budget friendly and can take you right from Spring through Summer. We have had some brief glimpses of Spring in the City and I have been taking advantage of every minute I can to get outside when the sun is shining. Since I am an avid walker I paired this cute bell sleeve floral wrap dress (it's only $17 and an extra 20% off with my code fashinny20) with my new seavees sneakers that I have been wearing all around town.

I am a huge fan of dresses and sneakers during the warmer months- (this trend is also seen here Maxi & Nike) and if this is a trend you are looking to try or you just need to give your feet some respite but still look cute, here are some tips on how to wear dresses & sneakers:

1. A dress looks great paired with sneakers when it seems effortless. Pair sneakers with light weight dresses, (nothing too over-the-top) for that just right feel & look.

2. Pair sneakers with the right dress for your body. We all know heels add length to your legs so when opting for sneakers you are not going to get that extra lift. I love that extra lift when I wear a tighter silhouette such as a body hugging dress.
Also a tip of the trade- if you are looking to get that longer leg effect, opt for a neutral color low top sneaker to top off your dress.

3. Workout shoes are not a match for this look keep them for the gym!
When you are looking to pair a sneaker with a dress make sure you are pairing it with the right type of sneakers, here is some inspo to get the look:

David's Bridal

Thursday, April 12, 2018

Let's talk wedding dress shopping! No two brides are alike and that is one of the many reasons that I absolutely love David's Bridal- they just expanded their line and have sizes to include everyone from size 2-20 with ranges in style so that every bride can feel and look her best on her big day. Last week, I got the chance to preview the new line during New York Bridal Fashion Week in Union Square. Every single model no matter her size, shape or color looked absolutely stunning in the dresses and I was amazed at the range in styles.

What is in style this season? Nudes and blushes are entering the game hard either as an underlay to the traditional white and tints of color are hitting the market as well. I myself went with an Ivory dress but I absolutely love these blush and golden tones and think they are absolutely stunning for a bride.

And let's take a minute to talk about accessories, I knew David's Bridal had bridal accessories for the big day ( think shoes, belts, jewelry) but what I didn't know is that they have everything that could take you from the moment you get engaged all the way through your honeymoon (check it out here Wedding Gift & Decor Details) .
I absolutely fell in love with this denim jacket that says Bride on the back and they had a killer bomber that says Just Married on the back that you can throw on as you make your exit from your big day.

Spring Dresses

Monday, April 2, 2018

All right New York, I give up waiting for Spring and instead am just going to dress for it in hopes that it finally shows up. Done with the layers and jackets I am shedding them and trading them in for Spring dresses and lighter colored booties (soon to be replaced with sandals).
I am digging the shift dress for Spring, it a. looks great on everyone no matter your body shape and
b. is so easy to style and take straight from the work place to drinks or dinner which I love.

I am ready to trade in my winter coat for a lighter jacket and some colorful and playful dresses, jumpsuits and everything in between.
