70's Vibes in the West Village

Friday, March 9, 2018

I am totally digging that 70's vibe and with Spring around the corner these colors are giving me life! This striped tee-shirt dress is the perfect transitional piece that will take you into the warmer months and is perfectly casual yet chic enough to wear out to brunch with your girlfriends.
So what are some of my favorite spots in the West Village?

(alos noted in this post) Between the instagrammable interior & the pretty cocktails (also delicious) this place is a must in the West Village. This hot spot only takes dinner reservations so if you want to stop in have that in mind. My tip- go early on the weekend! It opens at 11 and if you get there on time you can take your snaps and then enjoy your brunch & cocktails.

2. Sant Ambroeus located on the corner of Perry street & West 4th this West Village gem is the perfect spot to grab brunch and a cappuccino or espresso from the bar. This is the spot for you is you are looking for a bit of Italy in New York.

3. Tartine a quaint French cafe, bakery & restaurant that has been in the West Village for over 20 years. My recommendation, if you are pressed for time head in and grab a croissant, you won't be disappointed.

Spring Vibes in NYC- Maxi Dresses & Sneakers

Monday, March 5, 2018

Spring in New York City is my favorite time of year and we have had a few sneak peeks of what this season is going to look like. Two weeks ago we were blessed with 70 degree weather and I took absolute advantage of the day and headed out to meet a friend to have brunch and then took a walk through Central Park.
One of my favorite trends is maxi dresses paired with chic kicks and a leather bomber layered over your shoulders. This is the perfect spring-time look and can easily carry over through the summer months.

This cami maxi dress only $23 and it has quickly become one of my favorite dresses to throw on as I head out the door. I paired it with these Nike Cortez sneakers, I had my eye on them for a while and can't be happier that I grabbed them. They look great with everything from a maxi just like this dress to jeans, mini dresses & everything in between. Not to mention how comfortable they are- they are a definite MUST HAVE!! I bought this Blank NYC faux leather moto jacket last summer during the Nordstrom sale and am thrilled to see that they have it in three more colors. I have worn this jacket through all seasons and am seriously contemplating grabbing it in another color.

Of course, you know me, I love my accessories and opted to pair this dress with this meet me at the bar choker from Pink Karma XOXO. I absolutely love the drop bar & love the chic edge it added to this look. As for  my earrings they are by one of my favorite brands Nashelle- everything is handmade and they give a kick-back of sales back to the community.

New York Style Secrets

Thursday, March 1, 2018

So I have to share some secrets with you and obviously both of my secrets are fashion related & both have a lot of history some of which is similar. Read on to find out for yourself...

#1 Nestled on Montague street (only the cutest street in Brooklyn) is TANGO, a boutique shop that has everything from DVF to Frame Denim. I honestly can't believe I have lives in New York for so long without happening upon this boutique. I made my way to Brooklyn Heights a few weeks ago and met Jessica the owner who has an amazing eye for fashion. She immediately knew what would look good on my body type and started pulling fashionable pieces from the racks for me to try on.

Some Tango history for you, Tango was opened in 1973 by Michael Mastriano and his partner Anthony as a men's only store. This was followed up in 1977 with a women's boutique just across the street and continues to be managed by Michael for over 40 years (in the same location). In 2017 Michael's two children Jessica and Joseph stepped into his shoes and took over owning and operating the business.

#2 These boots are by SAS and I know what you are thinking because this was my grandmothers favorite comfort brand but they have updated styles that are chic & comfortable in every way. These are the perfect boots for Spring and as the weather has been warming up I have found my self pairing these with everything from jeans to dresses.

Some SAS  history, in the 70's, co-founders Terry Armstrong & Lew Hayden had a vision of how soft and comfortable genuine leather shoes should be made and created SAS (San Antonio Shoemakers). They started with 13 shoemakers and word of mouth and grew into the company it is today. Today it is in over 1000+ retailers and is still a family owned business.

What are some of your shopping secrets?

Tropical Vacation & Tiered Dresses

Wednesday, February 28, 2018

Doesn't this dress make you feel like dancing? Immediately following NYFW I hopped an a plane to Mexico as I was in major need of some sun, sand, surf & relaxation. For the past three years I have visited Mexico (also seen here & here) as it is an easy getaway from NYC, you can be sure that the weather will be beautiful & who does not love guac?

As any New Yorker would do in the dead of winter I was looking forward to breaking out bright colored dresses filled with patterns to accompany me on my vacation. This rose print tiered chiffon dress by Tahari ASL was just what I had in mind. You know I love getting the most wear out of my dresses and this dress is perfect for anything from a beach vacation to a wedding (I am loving patterned bridesmaid dresses) making it versatile and multi functional.

I paired this look with gold sandals (mine are from last season but here is an updated version & they are under $70) and a glitter pouch by MZ Wallace that I actually used on New Years Eve to go out in the city. Being back in New York is making me miss this tropical location but it is slowly warming up here and I can not wait to wear this dress again in New York.

New York Rooftops in Winter

Friday, February 23, 2018

Rooftops in winter- you betchya! Thankfully we have had a fairly mild winter in New York- a few colder days and some snow but overall I can not complain especially when you can hang out on a rooftop in NYC in February.  One of my favorite areas in NYC is Soho- between the shopping, the restaurants and the chic hotels it is definitely the spot to be and I must say I spent most of Fashion Week in the area. If you follow me on instagram ( @fashinny) you saw a bit of the behind the scenes as I hit the Revlon Lounge during fashion week. One of my favorite things in life is having my hair done, not to seem shallow but it's just so relaxing to me and when you add in a glass of champagne you have me at hello!

After being pampered with getting my hair done I moved on to the makeup chair to have my makeup touched up with Maybelline. I am addicted to Maybelline superstay matte ink (I am wearing believer) and have pretty much wearing the same color day since I was introduced to the line in December. I was psyched to be introduced to another great color and I have since purchased a few more to fill my makeup cabinet.

As most New Yorkers I have a thing for black and white and this Printed Bell Sleeve Dress by Tahari ASL fit into my wardrobe perfectly. I love the bell sleeves and the slight flare on the skirt of the dress and if you're into details this dress is the right one for you (& you can grab 20% off with my code: fashinny20 through 2/28). I paired it with over the knee black suede boots (similar style) and a silver mini satchel by Deux Lux that was perfect to carry along during fashion week.
