Keeping it Comfortable & Chic

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

One of the easiest articles of clothing to wear as spring and summer roll is is the tee-shirt dress. It's light, it's airy and best of all it looks great when worn alone or layered under a denim jacket. In New York the mornings and evenings are still a bit cooler in the spring so layering is necessary if you are a girl on the go. What's great about layering with a denim jacket is that you can easily take it off when it gets a bit warmer and tie it around your waist for a great look.

I grabbed this navy curved hem sheath dress from Shein and it is a steal! At only $11 it's a no-guilt purchase that will last you through the season. And with multiple ways to wear it you can't go wrong.
I chose to pair this dress with these Nike Huarache kicks as I ran errands around the city and love how they looked with the dress. I totally get the appeal of a good sneaker and have been trying to incorporate them more pairing them with unexpected looks to keep it comfortable yet chic.

Yellow State of Mind

Monday, April 24, 2017

Warmer weather helps me break out of my monotone wardrobe and start adding more pops of color to my closet. Growing up I never thought of myself as a fan of the color yellow but this latern sleeve off-the-shoulder top caught my eye and I love the tone against my skin. I paired this top with my favorite pair of high-waisted ripped denim, wedge sandals and my favorite accessories for spring- a great pair of tortoise shell sunglasses, a DW watch (use code FASHINNY for 15% off) and my favorite bangle from Per Lo Jewelry.

I love leaving my larger totes at home on the weekend and taking a smaller clutch with me when I go to brunch or other weekend related activities. This Harper Mini Baguette- Art Deco Brocade by Jess Rizzuti has been my go-to. I love the brocade pattern and it fits everything I need on the weekend- my phone, a small wallet and my lipstick!

Flirty dresses have stolen my heart and I love pairing them during the spring months with open back or open toe booties. There is something about the mix that I just love and it's a great way to get more wear out of your winter booties. I love the ruffle sleeves and the back criss-crosses adding interesting details to the look.

Off The Shoulder Tied With a Bow

Wednesday, April 19, 2017

I have decided that I am spending the spring in off-the-shoulder tops and dresses. This easy to wear chic look is perfect for a beautiful day and is easily transferrable from day to night. This past Sunday was 80 degrees in New York and was the perfect moment to take this top for a spin. I paired this Look Back Blouse from Shop Tobi  (get 50% off your first order on Shop Tobi) with a pair of cuffed denim and these open toe booties by Emu Australia. As always I love adding a bunch of accessories when getting dressed and nothing pairs better with an off-the-shoulder top than a choker.

A few months ago I was in Chicago for a wedding and thought, no worries- I will find a place...Fast forward to a few miles of wandering in a town I didn't know and yes I found a place but thought to myself- how easy would this have been if I could do it all at my hotel.
